When a child is critically ill or injured and in hospital, every moment together matters.

Family Stays.

Ronald McDonald House offers families a safe and welcoming place to stay close to their child during medical treatment.

Located on the second floor of Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital in Parktown, Johannesburg, our House gives families space to rest, prepare meals and find support during a difficult time.

Staying close helps families give their child the comfort, reassurance and love they need most.

A Place of Comfort and Care

When a child is seriously ill or injured, families often travel far from home to access specialised medical care.

Ronald McDonald House helps ease some of the practical and emotional pressure by giving families a place to stay inside the hospital, close to their child’s bedside. Each year, hundreds of families find a home away from home with us. Parents, legal guardians and siblings have space to rest, spend time together and connect with other families who understand what they are going through.

What Families Will Find at Our House

Our House offers 27 private family bedrooms, giving families comfort, dignity and privacy during their stay.

Families also have access to:

A shared kitchen and dining area

A family lounge

A children’s playroom and games room

A library

Laundry facilities

Comfortable spaces for rest and quiet time

Support from our caring team and community

"Every part of our House helps families feel safe and supported, so they have the space to focus on being there for their child."
